Rug size calculator
In a living room, pick a rug that leaves about 12 to 18 in of bare floor at the walls, with the sofa's front legs on it: a 12 × 15 ft room usually takes a 9 × 12 ft rug, or a 10 × 14 ft rug if you want it closer to the walls. Under a dining table, the rug should reach about 24 in past the table so chairs stay on it when pulled out.
