Empingated Knit Cloak

In collaboration with world renowned artist Carlos Luna, the Empingated Knit Cloak brings to life Luna’s powerful artwork from his piece Empingated. The design situates an anthropomorphic man amidst the jungle of life experiences, struggling with his own mortality. As death reaches out to him with an embrace, the man attempts to resist, hiding a knife behind his back in hopes of slaying death and living on. The cycle of life and death is represented by “La Vida” (Life) and “La Muerte” (Death), with the inclusion of the anglicized Cuban explicative, “Pinga”, hinting at the inevitable, chaotic outcome of the struggle. The Empingated Knit Cloak serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of existence and the inescapable reality of death.
